About us...

St Nicholas Day Nursery has a large number of highly qualified and experienced Early Years Practitioners, many of whom have worked at the nursery for several years. Aside from our bank/relief staff, the majority of the remaining staff work in designated rooms to ensure the children feel safe and secure. We operate a ‘Key Person’ system giving parents the opportunity to liaise with a specific person to discuss their child’s progress.

Jill Francis, our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator has completed Special Educational Needs training. She has a wealth of experience and has responsibility to oversee and implement all aspects of learning and care for those children who require additional support, whilst working closely with parents and professionals from other services. Jill attends refresher training and cluster meetings organised by the Lincolnshire Birth to Five Service, to ensure her practice remains current. She is supported by our Assistant SENDCo, Luci Fota.

We have three regular staff members in our large, purpose built kitchen. Pauline, our Head Cook, is responsible for creating and managing a five week rolling menu, whilst ensuring strict hygiene standards are maintained at all times. We are proud to have had an excellent Environmental Health rating since we opened in 2003, confirmed by our latest ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating in July 2022.

Diane and work alongside Pauline across the week to prepare every child with nutritious and varied meals throughout the day. The team use their skills to educate the children in cooking, baking and simple food preparation.

Our team use local sourced ingredients where possible and often select fresh food from either our kitchen garden (the children help with this), or from local suppliers. We cater for many dietary requirements, so please just ask.

Mobirise

We are a modern, purpose built nursery benefiting from underfloor heating, spacious rooms with a lot of natural light, and an underfloor heating system.  We pride ourselves on very strong relationships with local maintenance businesses including fire, gas, electricity, CCTV and site security.

We welcome students from local schools and training providers. Students are not included in our staff to child ratios. Apprentices may be used in ratios under the guidance of experienced and qualified members of staff, once we are happy that they have been fully inducted, are confident and have the skills to effectively work within the team and support the children within their care appropriately.

Thorough checks are carried out on ALL new staff and volunteers. Two professional references are sought, employment history requested and a Disclosure & Barring Service Check (formally CRB) is carried out in accordance with Ofsted and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) legal requirements.
